There is a difference most people still understand in their bones.
A negative right says: leave me alone. Don’t force me. Don’t rob me. Don’t silence me. That is the American understanding of liberty. It protects the individual from interference so he can pursue his own happiness without trampling someone else.
A positive claim is different. It says: my identity, my happiness, my feelings require you to change your language, open your sex-based spaces, rewrite the rules of family and biology, and treat my self-conception as reality. That is no longer a right. It is an assertion of power over other free people.
Once we accept the second version, liberty collapses. Every person becomes unpaid labor in someone else’s private project. The individual is no longer free. He is conscripted.
The American experiment only works when rights remain negative. We protect persons from force. We do not conscript other persons into affirmation.
Biological reality is not optional. The family is not optional. The freedom to say “no” is not optional.
Anything less turns ordered liberty into mutual tyranny.
Accountability. Assimilation. Allegiance.
