Folks, I’ve got some questions. Simple ones. I want you to answer them honestly, out loud if you have to.
Should there be any rules?
If you said no, stop here. We have nothing to talk about.
If you said yes, then what are they? Who enforces them? And how?
Because that’s the whole fight. Every country on earth has a border. Every one of them decides who comes in and who stays. Nobody calls that hate when Mexico does it. Nobody calls it hate when Japan does it. It only becomes hate when America does it.
So here’s the next question.
Should Americans be able to break into any country they want?
Walk across the line. Skip the paperwork. Work off the books. Drive without a license. Then when the police pull you over, cry that you’ve been there for years and it’s not fair.
If not, why not?
Think about your answer, because whatever reason you give is the same reason America gets to have rules too.
Now the last one. This is the one that matters.
If Americans were caught in another country illegally, punished, and deported, would you fight for them?
Would the big newsrooms spend four months and 5,000 words making you cry over their baptism parties?
Would there be rallies on their behalf? Riots?
Would you see American flags waving in foreign streets while somebody burned that country’s flag?
You know the answer. Nobody would. And nobody should. They broke the law. They’d go home.
I suspect this is really about being against Americans. The opposition dresses it up as compassion.
That’s not cruelty. That’s a country. Enforcing the law IS compassion. It deals with both sides. Mercy comes in the sentencing, not in pretending the law isn’t there.
I came here the right way. I’m grateful for it. All I’m asking is that the rules mean the same thing for everybody, here and everywhere else.
My verdict? Grateful for every country that enforces its own laws, America included. Ungrateful for the people who demand open doors here and would never ask for them anywhere else.
Now you weigh in. Answer the questions. All of them.
Spine, not knees.
