Folks, what type of mentality or personality do people like Omar, Piker and his ilk have?
In my opinion, it’s one of complete arrogance. Whether they realize it or not, even if it’s not braggadocio, it is the opposite of humility. The opposite of Gratitude. The personality is void of circumspection. False humility and the soft bigotry of low expectation married to a savior complex. And underneath all of it, hypocrisy.
Let’s take them at their own words.
No mirror.
In 2019, Hasan Piker said on his stream: “America deserved 9/11, dude. F— it, I’m saying it.” When the heat came, he called it “inappropriate.” In the same breath he sharpened it: “I didn’t say Americans deserved 9/11 — I said America deserves 9/11.” Then he offered, “maybe you can chalk it up to English being my second language.” He was born in New Jersey.
Last month on Axios he was asked if America is worse than al-Qaeda. “Pound-for-pound as far as the number of deaths, yes.”
Then there’s the landlord clip: “Murder those motherf—ers in the street.” His defense on Australian TV? “Hyperbolic.” “LARPing.” Never “I was wrong.”
Omar, the day agents searched her home on a judge’s warrant: “I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.” The problem is never her. It’s always someone else.
False humility.
Piker calls landlording “inherently parasitic” and sells his audience on the evils of wealth. Then he bought a $2.74 million house in West Hollywood. His answer to the critics: “tax the f— out of people like me.” Sorry, pal. Nobody’s stopping you from writing a bigger check.
When the Treasury came asking about his Cuba trip, he played the martyr: “they’re after your boy,” an “intimidation operation.”
Omar’s office, after her disclosure dropped from as much as $30 million to under $100,000: “The congresswoman is not a millionaire.” Same amended filing: up to $1,005,000 in 2024 income from her husband’s companies.
The soft bigotry of low expectations.
Omar did say Feeding Our Future’s crooks “must be held accountable.” Then, on national TV, she turned the story around: “This also has an impact on Somalis, because we are also taxpayers… We also could have benefited from the program and the money that was stolen.” Fifty-seven convictions, and her line was, “we don’t feel the weight of what those individuals have done.”
That’s not defense. That’s coddling. And coddling does as much damage as laziness. It tells people the rules bend for them.
Thomas Sowell got two D’s and two F’s his first term at Harvard. He was told to shape up or ship out. “I didn’t have anywhere to ship out to.” So he got to work and graduated with honors. Nobody coddled him. That’s why he made it.
The savior.
Omar, in Somali, to a Somali crowd in Minneapolis, January 2024: “For as long as I am in Congress, no one will take over the seas belonging to the nation of Somalia… So feel comfortable Somali Minnesotans that the woman you sent to Congress is aware of this issue.”
Piker rode a convoy to Havana to stand with Cuba against his own country’s sanctions.
Both cast themselves as the rescuer. America is the villain.
Hypocrisy.
In 2018, Omar said: “I am not a Somali representative… I am a representative who happens to have all of these marginalized identities.” Six years later she stood before her own group and promised it the seas of Somalia.
She says Congress must be “beholden to the people and not special interests.” She calls her critics’ attacks “rooted in xenophobia and Islamophobia.” Then she sorts Americans by tribe herself.
Piker preaches against the rich. He lives like them.
The other way.
Gratitude is spine, not knees. It isn’t groveling. It’s standing up straight and owning your life.
The three As are the antidote. Accountability: you own your words, no “hyperbolic,” no “LARPing.” Assimilation: you join the country that took you in, or in Piker’s case, raised you. Allegiance: one flag, not the seas of another nation.
Arrogance can’t do any of the three. It has no mirror.
My verdict? Ungrateful.
Now you weigh in. Grateful, or Ungrateful? Cast your verdict in the comments, then send it to someone who needs to see this.
Spine, not knees.
