This Is Not Stewardship—It’s Sabotage
The Left is not the better steward of the United States. Their clearest proof? They actively push to defund the very tools and institutions that enforce Accountability, support Assimilation, and demand Allegiance.
Right now, Democrats in Congress are fighting to fund parts of the Department of Homeland Security while stripping resources from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). They back discharge petitions and reforms that would leave enforcement agencies starved while protecting sanctuary policies that shield illegal aliens from removal. This isn’t compassion or reform—it’s a deliberate effort to weaken the spine of national stewardship.
Honest stewards protect and strengthen what works. They don’t defund the mechanisms that deliver measurable results.
Defunding Accountability
Accountability means self-sufficiency and net contribution—no free rides, no shielding lawbreakers at taxpayer expense. Strong border enforcement and interior removals have delivered historic outcomes in early 2026: southwest border apprehensions down over 90% from Biden-era peaks, zero illegal releases into the interior for months on end, and dramatic drops in encounters.
The Left’s response? Block full DHS funding unless ICE and CBP are reined in or defunded. They demand “reforms” like limits on detentions, body camera mandates that tie agents’ hands, and sanctuary-style non-cooperation. In practice, this protects dependency and crime over self-sufficiency. Sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to honor ICE detainers increase costs on housing, healthcare, and policing—eroding the basic American bargain: contribute or face consequences.
Defunding enforcement isn’t prudent resource management. It’s choosing chaos over order.
Defunding Assimilation
Diversity is a fact. Without assimilation—adopting English, productive norms, and shared laws—it becomes division. Effective enforcement pressures newcomers to integrate rather than form permanent parallel societies.
When the Left pushes to defund or hamstring ICE and CBP, they remove the incentive for assimilation. Sanctuary policies signal that you can arrive illegally, resist integration, and still access benefits with minimal accountability. This undermines the melting pot that built America’s strength. Past successful immigrant waves assimilated because the system expected it. Weakening enforcement today invites the opposite: enclaves, lower trust, and higher long-term welfare strain.
No high-performing nation sustains prosperity by defunding the tools that encourage blending into the host culture.
Defunding Allegiance
Allegiance requires loyalty to this nation’s laws, borders, and founding principles first. Defunding border security and removal operations sends the opposite message: America’s sovereignty is optional, and imported identities or grievances take priority.
The Left’s agenda—opposing full funding for enforcement agencies while criticizing “brutal” removals—weakens national allegiance. It remakes America into something it has never been: a borderless experiment without a unifying spine. History shows unassimilated diversity without allegiance leads to fragmentation, not utopia. Europe’s integration struggles offer a clear warning.
True stewards defend the institutions that secure allegiance. Sabotaging them for political gain or ideological remaking is not stewardship—it’s betrayal of the harvest.
The Three Ps Test—Failed
• Permanent: Honest stewardship builds enduring systems—secure borders, consistent rules, institutions that last generations. Defunding enforcement favors short-term political optics and open flows over permanent infrastructure for sovereignty.
• Prudent: Resources are limited. Prioritizing protection for illegal entrants over citizens’ safety, wages, and services wastes what we have. Recent enforcement success proves targeted funding delivers results; defunding delivers strain.
• Pragmatic: Judge by outcomes. Under stronger enforcement, illegal crossings have plummeted and accountability improved. The Left fights these measurable wins because they clash with the vision of a remade America. Pragmatic stewardship follows data, not slogans.
Diversity without the pillars is raw material that can enrich—or destroy. The Left’s defund push chooses the latter by attacking the guardrails.
America’s Gratitude Scorecard rose to 47/60 in late March thanks to accountability-focused policies and enforcement gains. Continued defunding efforts threaten that progress. Real stewardship demands we strengthen, not starve, what works.
What say you? In your city or state, have you seen sanctuary policies or defund-style resistance that undermine accountability? Which actions best demonstrate honest stewardship versus sabotage?
Gratitude first.
