We Won the War—But May Lose the Peace?
PragerU’s Allen Guelzo: “The North won the war. The South won the peace.” After ’65, rebels slid back—Lincoln dead, Johnson soft. Freed slaves counted full (no more three-fifths), so South got extra seats. They rewrote laws, lynched, scared voters.
Amendments came late:
• 13th (slavery ends): Dec ’65—freed ’em, but no vote, no say.
• 14th (citizenship): July ’68—rights on paper.
• 15th (black vote): Feb ’70—voice at last.
South grabbed power before the big two locked in. Reconstruction died. Jim Crow rose.
That’s the trap: win the war, lose the peace. But here’s the fix—
You don’t skip the surgery because the stitches are gonna hurt. You cut out the cancer—then heal. We’ve tried sanctions, talks, cash, “patience.” None worked. Saturday? We finally cut. Debt collected—clean.
Left whines: “Striking Iran? We’ll lose the peace!” Same excuse: “Don’t fight slavery ‘cause Reconstruction flopped?” No. You fight evil first. Then—don’t quit.

We don’t quit. We finish.
